Dos and Dont's of Mattress Shopping

What's the best way to shop for a mattress?
For starters, always shop for your mattress in person, online is a great place for gathering information, but never buy, before you try! Consumer Reports® recommends lying down for a full 15 minutes in your favorite sleeping position. Their testers found that the mattress they liked in the showroom was typically the one they liked for years to come.

How do you know which mattress is best?
It's all about personal preference.  Mattresses are so much better than in years past with unlimited hi-tech materials, and configurations.  While the predominant options once were basic innerspring mattresses, advanced technology has ushered in mattresses made in a whole range of exciting high-performance materials.   Try them out.  Look for the ‘wow’ factor.  Start with lower-priced options, and don't be shy, you'll notice every serious shopper laying down, rolling over, grabbing pillows, and taking up to 15 minutes on several different mattresses.
That said, if you find yourself conflicted on whether to spend a bit more for a good night's sleep, remember that while a $2,000 purchase is certainly a lot of money, it comes to just 22¢ a night considering the life expectancy of a top quality mattress.
